#011: Understanding verbs — bere
The verb, bere, is irregular in the present tense and means to drink. You can see the verb conjugated below in the present tense:
Bere is also irregular in the imperfect:

The past participle of bere is bevuto.
Some useful expressions involving the verb, bere:
bere a centillini to sip
bere a garganella to guzzle, to swig
bere rumorosamente to slurp
bere a collo to drink from the bottle
bere dalla bottiglia to drink from the bottle
bere come una spugna to drink like a fish
bere per dimenticare to drink to forget; to drink one’s problems away
darsi al bere to take to drink; to turn to the bottle (i.e. to become a drunk)
spingere al bere to drive to drink
