#111: Understanding verbs – venire
The verb, venire, is irregular in the present tense. It translates as ‘to come’ in English. It is also used in a limited manner to form the passive voice.
The past participle is venuto.
Venire takes essere in compound tenses.
Venire is also irregular in the passato remoto, futuro and condizionale:
Useful expressions with the verb, venire:
venire dentro to come inside
venire dopo to follow
venire fuori to come out
venire fuori con to come up with (such as an idea, plan)
venire incontro a + qualcuno to meet someone halfway
venire in treno to come by train
venire in aereo to come by plane
andare e venire to come and go
venire a un accordo to come to an agreement
venire da + noun to come from (as in: to be derived from, to stem from)
venire da + infinitive to feel like
venire da + infinitive to have to (used impersonally, like piacere)
-Mi viene da piangere. / I have to cry.
venire bene to be a success
venire male to be a failure
venire to cost
