How To Support ILGUR

ILGUR and its content are free and many of the lessons are downloadable or soon will be.  All of our content is generated during our free time, and we hope that you enjoy all of the lesson and content that we provide.  As our blog and sites grow, bandwidth increases and all of these charges are assumed by us.  We hope that our sites and blogs will always remain free and open to everyone in the world.  We have considered make our blog a subscription service or blocking it so that only “paying customers” can view and download our materials, but we want our blog and sites to be open to all.

Often I am asked by readers: How can I help to support your efforts?

Here are some suggestions:

  1. If you like to read in Italian or watch Italian films, consider purchasing your Italian DVD’s and books from Internet Bookshop Italia.
  2. Consider a donation through PayPal (just click on button in the sidebar to the right!).  If there’s a lesson or two that you like or our site has helped you to improve your Italian, study for a test, better understand a complex grammar concept or simply to reconnect with the language, a small donation is a nice way to say “Thank you and keep up the good work!”

We understand that times are tough in the current economic climate, and there are other ways that you can help us that doesn’t involve your wallet or pocketbook.  You can:

  1. Tell your friends about our site and posts.  Let everyone know how useful and helpful our blog is!
  2. If you participate in groups (like in Facebook, Twitter, etc.), let your friends and fellow Italian learners know about us.
  3. Send us comments and suggestions on how to improve.  This is important since many of the blog posts are questions submitted by users.  These allow us to create innovative comments.  Remember, if you have a question about Italian, chances are there are others who have the same question.  There is no such thing as a stupid question.

Donations and contributions help to:

  1. Pay for web hosting fees, domain name registrations and other administrative fees associated with hosting and managing a web site as well as development costs associated with producing apps for mobile devices.
  2. Pay for bandwidth.  Now that we are hosting pdf’s and other media files (such as the voice support for Parola del Giorno), this will soon cost us more money as more and more users subscribe and make use of the service.
  3. Allow us to fund drawings and contests that we regularly hold through our Facebook group and sites.
  4. Help us to purchase books and research materials that we use to write our posts and improve our content.
  5. And most of all…your contributions help keep the blog free and open to all!
